Eliezer "Elie" Wiesel An introspective teenager, Elie first begins to hate when Hungarian police strike out with billy clubs and force Jews from their homes. At Auschwitz's Bl he berates himself for being a spoiled child and rejecting his first plate of prison soup. He redeems himself by multiple acts of kindness, such as giving up his gold dental crown to spare his father torment for.   We stopped only after we had secured all the windows shut and re-checked the door locks. Only then did the two of us stop to look at each other. We were drenched in sweat. Neither of us spoke for a while. Finally my dad broke the silence, “Boy, that was close!” I said nothing. Faith Hills crooned on, in the background. It was our first.

However, even when anti-Semitic measures force the Sighet Jews into supervised ghettos, Elie's family remains calm and compliant. Ravenous Beastie is rated "Superb" by our guests. This book is so different from other horror-y books I've read. It's character driven, there's so much detail put into the characters that you do genuinely care what happens to them instead of barely blinking an eye as the author kills them off one by one/5.
